Westboro Fuse Fashion

on September 23, 2017 I had the opportunity to be part of the biggest fashion party of the season, Westboro Fuse Fashion, a premiere event in support of Cornerstone Housing for Women. The event took place in a luxurious 11,000sq ft space at QWest on Richmond Road, Ottawa. Hosted by CTV Ottawa News, Sarah Freemark, the event Included multiple fashion shows which focused on the latest Fall/Winter trends from many well- known Westboro retailers such as:  Three Wild WomenWestboro Closet Candy, Fashion United, Manhattan West, Select, and many more. Runway models provided by our very own Queen of the city, Angie Sakla Seymour of Angie’s AMTI, It is a show that everyone had talked about for weeks and I feel very humble to have had the chance to photograph it. Barbados 50th Anniversary Gala

It was such an honour to be part of the Barbados 50th Anniversary Gala last weekend at Centurion located at 170 Colonnade Rd, Nepean, ON. It was a full house, an evening filled with vivid colours of the Caribbean, delicious food, great cultural performances and amazing company. The appearance of the Iconic calypsonian Grynner completed the evening with his great talent that brought everyone out onto the dance floor as the night unfolded.

First Nations/Regalia Photoshoot

Yesterday, I had the privilege to photograph Frazer Lee Whiteduck from Sheguiandah First Nations of Ojibwe and Onondaga. He is a father of 2 boys and a men's traditional dancer, The Warrior and Storyteller Dance. It was very pleasant to have Frazer in studio fully dressed in his Regalia which is to him a great representation of who he is. Most of the pieces worn for the shoot are made by him and some are gifted. Not only didthe photoshoot go well, but also I had a chance to be educated a bit about the First Nations’ cultural background and Regalia meanings. Frazer wore his bead dress that is a Roach made of synthetic porcupine hair and dyed deer tail hair. He also wore the war paint for intimidation and accentuation of his facial expressions. The pieces carried are his eagle fan, gun stock and redtail hawk dance staff. His chest piece is made of bone and braided sinew and is called a breastplate. His back piece is known as a bustle that usually made of eagle, goose or turkey and/or hawk feathers. Frazer is a young entrepreneur of the culinary art with his catering company 1st Nations Creations Caterig Co. He also works full time as a line cook at Riverside Pub. He dances traditionally and he is mostly at every Pow Wow dance competition. It was very enjoyable to listen to his cultural music during the shoot and was certainly breathtaking to watch him dance. Frazer can be found on Facebook as Frazer Lee Whiteduck if anyone would like to see more of his work. I am very pleased to share some of the Images captured during the shoot and more will be posted soon.
